Communication Team Section, Ministry of Economy manages, plans, and monitors media communication activities, interpersonal, and current information disseminated by the Government and departments in relation to prevailing economic affairs to target groups.

Objectives

  • To outline, prepare, and implement suitable Communication plans with the matters / issues faced by EPU, JPM or the Government;
  • To furnish clear, precise, and consistent latest information about the Ministry of Economy and the Government to the people through the media;
  • To monitor current issues through the media to ensure that the Ministry of Economy and the Government image are not tarnished.

Key Function

  • To summarise and implement external communication activities related to newspapers, media conferences, and Minister's policy briefing at the Prime Minister Department, other Ministries, and the Ministry of Economy
  • To outline media communication plans and strategies for the Ministry of Economy and Government;
  • To outline face-to-face communication plans and strategies for the Ministry of Economy and Government;
  • To manage and handle issues that require special communication deemed suitable by the Minister at the Prime Minister Department and Ministry of Economy Director General;
  • To propose and execute Government's messages on special projects,  highly notable  projects, and important project for the Prime Minister's office, Cabinet, Minister at the Prime Minister Department, and Ministry of Economy Director General;
  • Manage and address communication crisis faced by the Minister at the Prime Minister Department, Ministry of Economy Director General, and Government;
  • To monitor and analyse domestic and foreign media coverages and making analysis in regard to major projects and other related with current issues by the Government and Ministry of Economy;
  • To supervise and monitor public opinions on Government economic policies and strategies;
  • Foster close relationship with media and analysts

  • To monitor domestic and foreign mass media reports (printed & electronic) in regard to our Country;
  • To formulate pro-active communication plans ensuring messages intended by departments or Prime Minister Department reaches the target groups;
  • To formulate special programmes to manage crisis;
  • To organise/plan dialogues and interviews with leaders in mass media (printed & electronic) to disseminate Government  information or messages;
  • To act as advisor to the Ministry of Economy in implementing communication programmes.
